Celebrating NIDEK’s 40th Anniversary

“Invisible to Visible (creating vision)”, “Visible to Recognition (obtaining better recognition through vision)” -- NIDEK was established in 1971 to develop excellent “Eye Instruments” that fulfill these dreams. Today, we are celebrating our 40th anniversary and sincerely grateful for reaching this milestone despite the unprecedented challenges. In March 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake struck off the coast of the Tohoku region of Japan. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to all of those who are affected. NIDEK is contributing to the recovery by fulfilling our role in providing eye care solutions for Japan and abroad.

NIDEK is active worldwide in three business fields: Medical, Optometry & Finishing, and Coating. From 1996, NIDEK has expanded its business domain from “Eye” to “Eye & Health Care”. In recent years, we especially focused on the development of products for the early detection of diseases, improving wellness and the quality of life.

In 2001, we have started to develop Visual Prosthesis. It has been our dream since the foundation of NIDEK, which may have seemed impossible 40 years ago. Today, with technological advancement and developers’ dedication, this project has made remarkable progress and is under several short-term clinical trials. We will continue to work on further improvement towards more practical applications.

With our enduring passion, we will stay committed to providing the products and services of high originality today and in the future. By responding to the constant changes in consumer needs, NIDEK will strive to make further advancements.
