Total Solution for Retinal Disorders and Glaucoma:
Imaging Diagnosis and Laser Treatment

In this symposium three international experts will discuss the latest technological developments in imaging diagnosis of various retinal disorders and glaucoma by the RS-3000 (OCT) and F-10 (SLO). Treatment will be highlighted with cases employing photocoagulation by the MC-500 Vixi (Multicolor Pattern Scan Laser).

Moderator

Ahmed M. Abu El-Asrar, M.D., PhD

Professor and Consultant, Department of Ophthalmology, College of Medicine, King Saud University

Speakers

Fernando Gomez Goyeneche, M.D., COLOMBIA

President of the Colombian Society of Ophthalmology
Senior Consultant and Head of Glaucoma Service, Hospital Militar Central
Associate Professor of Department of Ophthalmology, Universidad Militar Nueva Granada

Title: Early Diagnosis of Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a progressive optic neuropathy characterized by the loss of retinal ganglion cells, which leads to retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thinning and optic nerve cupping. RNFL damage precedes visual field loss. The RS-3000 can quantify RNFL thickness, measure the inner retinal complex, and supplement clinical work-up for the early detection of optic nerve fiber layer defects with maps of large retinal regions.

Edoardo Midena, M.D., PhD, ITALY

Full Professor and Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Padova, School of Medicine

Title: Multimodal Macular Imaging: Integrating the RS-3000 and F-10 in Clinical Practice

The current clinical evaluation of retinal disorders is based on standard clinical examination and also on the mandatory contribution offered by OCT and SLO. Current and future retinal diagnostics rest on the integration of information obtained by different approaches with the F-10 (including FA, ICGA, and FAF) and RS-3000. Multimodal macular imaging is the key to correctly interpret retinal and choroidal disorders affecting the macula, to plan the most effective therapy, and to provide precise and reliable criteria for retreatment.

Toshinori Murata, M.D., PhD, JAPAN

Professor and Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology, School of Medicine, Shinshu University

Title: Optimizing Laser Treatment with MC-500 Vixi

This lecture will highlight clinical outcomes associated with the MC-500 Vixi of diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. The MC-500 Vixi enables painless, quick, and effective treatment, and also it allows to form coagulation spot even in patients with moderate cataract or vitreous opacity. Pattern scan function provides laser with less pain and less session time than conventional lasers.
