NIDEK progresses with the passion for Eyes

NIDEK was established in 1971 with three dreams - “Invisible to Visible (creating vision)”, “Visible to Recognition (obtaining better recognition through vision)” and “Eye Instruments (making excellent products for vision)”. We have consistently focused our business on Eye Care. NIDEK has grown to be one of the leading ophthalmic companies in the world, and our products are used in over 100 countries.

There is a basic philosophy we have respected in our daily business. It consists of three elements, - “KIGAI”, “CHIGAI“, and “SEKAI”. These Japanese words, which follow a rhyme, mean that keeping on challenging and having passion (KIGAI), doing or coming up with what others cannot (CHIGAI), and continuing to work our business activities on the world stage (SEKAI). All of us believe that it is possible to develop valuable products and services through constant practice of these elements.

NIDEK has conducted three business fields - Medical, Optometry & Finishing, and Coating. In addition, we are now challenging ourselves to create Visual Prosthesis, which is the realization of our dreams. To provide delight of seeing for more people as early as possible, we are eager to develop Visual Prosthesis.

Today, the world is faced with the deeper economic recession than ever before. Under any circumstance, we are to keep being creative and innovative existence. In 2009, we released new OCT / SLO System, which is used in ocular fundus and retinal diagnostics.

Reflecting the aging of society, the need for advanced Eye Care will be growing. Our role, that is to provide high quality products to the world becomes more important. With the attention to the constant changes in social trend such as emerging Asian market, our products and services will satisfy various needs of people all over the world.
