NIDEK supported the reconstruction of a Nepal school
NIDEK CO., LTD. announced that it reconstructed the Shree Kalika Secondary School Sundawati (※1), Nepal on 28th October 2017.
(※1) Sundawati is located 150 km east of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
As part of our international contribution, in 2001, we supported construction of a school in Nepal, however, this school collapsed during the Nepal earthquake in 2015.
After the collapse, the school continued operation in a temporary building equipped with only a roof and there was no hope for reconstruction. We decided to respond to the request from the local people and support the reconstruction in 2016.
The rebuilding progressed until finally, the school celebrated the completion of reconstruction on 28th October. The new school building is built of reinforced concrete with an earthquake-proof structure in light of the experience of the Nepal earthquake.
As a company engaged in medical care, we will continue to contribute to the improvement of the environment for a healthy life for the people of the world.
