Mr. Motoki Ozawa,
President and CEO of NIDEK
NIDEK CO., LTD. announced that NIDEK’s lens edger, “Lex 1000”, was awarded “MTP GOLD Medal” in OPTYKA, the optical exhibition held in Poznan, Poland from November 21st and 22nd.
In Poland, each optical company had held exhibitions independently until last year. The optical association established “OPTYKA” which is the first combined exhibition starting from this year. Over 100 optical companies participated from over the world. “MTP GOLD Medal” is an award for excellent eyeglass frames, lenses, and optic instruments.
The Lex 1000 was awarded for its ability to process high base curve lenses*1, becoming popular for their fashionable looks. Moreover, the Lex 1000 can process lens with super hydrophobic coating/finishing*2 by using NIDEK’s own unique technology. These innovative technologies and reliability was highly evaluated.
It is an honor for NIDEK to receive “MTP GOLD Medal”, along with “Silmo d’OR” which was awarded to our OPD-Scan II/ARK-10000 at Silmo, an international optical exhibition held in Paris this autumn. NIDEK will continue to develop innovative and highly reliable products,” said Mr. Motoki Ozawa, President and CEO of NIDEK.
<Notes>
*1: Highly curved designed lens to fit the face well, used for sunglass. It is fashionable, and shuts out the wind and pollen.
*2: Major coating for lens to avoid adherence of fingerprint and scratches. The surface of lens is slippery; therefore there is a problem that lens slip easily during lens edging (processing).
