NIDEK launches the MSE-1 System Edger and the ME-1 Multifunction Edger

NIDEK CO., LTD., a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of ophthalmic, optometric, and lens edging equipment, is pleased to announce the launch of the MSE-1 System Edger and the ME-1 Multifunction Edger.
The MSE-1 is a next-generation hybrid lens edger engineered to deliver the power of an industrial system with the intuitive operation of a retail unit, bridging performance and usability like never before. Its hybrid edging system pairs a milling tool with grinding wheels, delivering high-speed edging without compromising accuracy. While roughing with the milling tool significantly reduces processing time, the MSE-1 uses precision grinding wheels for the finishing process, ensuring consistently accurate results. From high-curve bevels to step bevels, design cuts, and drilling, the MSE-1 handles a wide range of jobs with confidence. Additionally, the MSE-1 features a specialized separator that extends water usability and reduces the frequency of water replacement. Fins on the separator capture larger debris from milling tool roughing, directing it into the waste box, while only fine particles flow into the main tank.
The ME-1 is the new flagship model for retail, engineered for multifunctionality, accuracy, and user‑friendly operation. The ME-1 goes beyond drilling and high base curve processing and provides advanced functionalities such as step and partial step beveling, facet, special safety beveling, and partial grooving and beveling to accommodate a broad range of frame styles with ease, ensuring the quality you demand for your customers. The new powerful structural design enhances the rigidity necessary for stable and accurate lens processing.
Both models include up to 11 mm height step beveling. With support for lens sizes up to ø90 mm and step heights up to 11 mm, both models handle even the most demanding bevel requirements effortlessly. To further enhance precision, the variable step angle control maintains a uniform step width across the entire lens shape. This prevents the base of the step from becoming thinner, which leads to a consistent accurate fit, even with complex frame geometries, delivering professional-grade results with every lens.
