NIDEK launched the System Chart with multiple functions “SC-1600Pola/1600”

NIDEK is pleased to announce of launching its new visual acuity measurement system chart of the SC-1600Pola/1600 on Tuesday, February 1st 2011. These new products are our third generation of our LCD system chart series.

 

The LCD system chart is the measurement instrument to check our visual acuity by showing visual charts when people visits Ophthalmologists or Optical shops.

 

“The new products of the SC-1600Pola/1600 series will strengthen our line up and I strongly believe that these products will support our users to deliver smoother and friendly examinations to their patients and customers”, said Motoki Ozawa, President and CEO, NIDEK CO., LTD.

 

The SC-1600Pola/1600 apply the 17-inch LCD screen and our unique image processing technology allowing VA 0.04 to 2.0 images to be displayed. The design of appearance is changed to inhibit fusion stimuli*1 by having much spaces around the display for precise measurement. Moreover, they can be synchronized and integrated with the NIDEK Smart Refractor for more refined and smoother examinations. When synchronized, chart images adjustments are possible using the Smart Refractor control box. They also provide various charts for measurement such as the contrast test, which supports patients who have undergone cataract to refractive surgery. The SC-1600Pola brings the Binocular test adopting the state-of-the-art technology.

＜Notes＞

*1 fusion stimuli
The fusion stimuli by other images in view influence the result of Visual Acuity measurement. Our brain recognizes its image as one target when a right eye and a left eye see the same size and color target. The environment for not preventing the fusion is recommended, and our SC-1600Pola/Pola is cleared JIS standard “T7 309-7.1.5”.

*2 heterophoria
The symptom direction of an eye is sloping when covering the other eye. For this, a sloping eye is always correcting its direction and its eye is in tension. It might be one cause of eyestrain.
