NIDEK CO., LTD. is pleased to announce the official start of Orbis International’s AI-assisted diabetic retinopathy screening project in Vietnam, which aims to screen around 72,000 patients with diabetes over the next three years. NIDEK donated six fundus cameras (AFC-330) for this project and completed the installation supported by the local distributor, Vietcan Service & Trading Joint Stock Company.
These specialized fundus cameras, used in conjunction with Orbis’s AI tool, Cybersight AI, will help people living with diabetes access specialized screening at six health facilities in three provinces in Vietnam, providing crucial early diagnosis.
The project will help tackle the growing threat of diabetic retinopathy in Vietnam, where around 7 million people are estimated to have diabetes—a number expected to increase five-fold by 2030. Everyone with diabetes is at risk of developing the potentially blinding eye condition. Early detection is critical to prevent future vision loss.
It is our great honor to join this project and we will continue to support the Orbis International for this project.
