NIDEK introduces the clear model Aktis SP

NIDEK CO. LTD., a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of ophthalmic, optometric, and lens edging equipment, is pleased to announce the global launch of the clear model Aktis SP aspheric single-piece IOL.

The clear model Aktis SP is a single-piece IOL with a stable lens material and advanced lens design, which achieves great operative outcomes. Its predecessor, the yellow-tinted model, has been implanted over a million times in total with its pre-loaded, and its post-operative outcome is highly regarded.

The Aktis SP’s double-polymerization of monomers decreases the voids in the IOL structure and results in a stable polymer. This unique structural architecture inhibits water components from coalescing and reduces the chances of glistening and whitening.

The 360° square edge of the lens enhances the bonding of the IOL surface to the posterior capsule minimizing the risk of posterior capsule opacification (PCO). Blast finishing on the haptic surface reduces adherence and improves the visibility of the haptic during implantation. Our anchor wing haptic, a vertical design, enlarges the capsule contact area and secures the intracapsular fixation. The asperitic optic side surface reduces intraocular light reflection which causes glare.

The advanced aspheric optic of the Aktis SP provides enhanced optical performance even should malpositioning occur. The Aktis SP is designed to avoid image degradation in the cases of lens deviation or tilt after implantation.
