NIDEK’s NZ-1, Pre-Loaded IOL Implant System, to be exhibited at the APEC JAPAN 2010 “JAPAN EXPERIENCE”

NIDEK CO., LTD. is proud to announce that NIDEK’s Pre-Loaded IOL Implant System, NZ-1, is selected as the product which to be exhibited at the “JAPAN EXPERIENCE” at the PACIFICO YOKOHAMA from November 6 to 14 2010, which is along with the APEC JAPAN 2010 .

 

This exhibition aims at introducing and demonstrating the world-class leading-edge technologies and approaches of Japan to attendees and media. The exhibits are selected from several Japanese companies or organizations related to three elements of the APEC JAPAN 2010; “promoting regional economic integration (REI)”, “devising a new growth strategy” and “enhancing human security”. NIDEK’s NZ-1 is received an honor to be exhibited there.

The NZ-1 is the product, which is used for cataract surgery. “Cataract” is the disease of decreasing vision caused by a cloudiness of the crystalline lens. In cataract surgery, the clouded crystalline lens is removed and an artificial lens is inserted, called an Intraocular Lens (IOL), to restore patient’s vision. This system that combines an IOL and injector is called “Pre-Loaded IOL system.” The Pre-Loaded IOL system realizes a smooth insertion of the IOL to the eye, and minimizes the risk of bacterial contamination since the IOL does not touch the eye tissue directly.
